Target's "Take Charge of Education" Program

Thank you to all of the staff, parents and friends who have designated Archbishop Damiano School as their K-12 school of choice through Target’s “Take Charge of Education” Program.  As of March 2009, Target has donated $920.50 to ADS.  If you are a Target Credit card holder, please consider enrolling in Target’s free “Take Charge of Education Program”  at Target.com/tcoe or by calling  1-800-316-6142  and designate ADS (ID# 114877) as your K-12 school of choice.   As a reminder,  Target’s “Take Charge of Education” program is a school fundraising initiative that offers families, teachers and community members an easy way to designate an eligible K-12 school of their choice nationwide and have Target donate an amount equal to one percent of their REDcardSM (Target® Visa® Credit Card, Target Credit CardSM and Target Check CardSM) purchases made at Target and Target.com*. In addition, Target donates ½ percent of all Target Visa Credit Card purchases made everywhere else Visa credit cards are accepted.  If you would like additional information on the program, please click on the following link.

              Telecommunications System Upgrade Project

St. John of God Community Services has recently undergone a complete upgrade of its telecommunications system at the Westville Grove and Pittsgrove, NJ locations.  This telecommunications upgrade was made possible due to the fundraising efforts of the Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God. The upgrade replaced our existing phone system, an analog/digital PBX which was more than 15 years old, with a new state of the art Avaya IP/Digital communications management system which serves St. John of God Community Services,  Archbishop Damiano School, the Hospitaller Order, the Hospitaller Brothers of St John of God and O’Shea Children’s Center.  As a result of the upgrade, all of our telephone extensions have changed to 4-digit extensions and the telephone system menu options have also changed.   Therefore, when calling our offices, please listen carefully to the new menu options.  If you need help at any time,  please dial “0” and our receptionist will be happy to assist you.

YOUTH GARDEN RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD

Archbishop Damiano School’s Not So Secret Garden was selected from more than 1000 kids’ gardening programs nationwide to receive a 2009 Youth Garden Grant from the National Gardening Association, based in South Burlington, Vermont.  This award-winning youth gardening program will receive an assortment of books donated by the National Gardening Association and a $500 gift card from The Home Depot, which recognizes that today’s youth are the future of American gardening.

“National Gardening Association is proud to support this terrific kids’ garden”, says Michael Metallo, President.  “This program was selected because of a demonstrated commitment to actively and creatively engaging youth in the gardening process and to improving the community.  We were able to see from their application that the garden program will be sustained for years to come.
