Participants in St. John of God Community Services Adults Services/Vocational Rehabilitation program have been partnering with Forget Me Knot Flowers, a floral repurposing service, to spread love and happiness to local senior centers.

Rather than let the wedding or event flowers mold and die, a bride and groom can arrange for the beauties to be collected by Forget Me Knot Flowers, a nonprofit that repurposes wedding flowers into "bedside bouquets" to brighten the rooms of sick, elderly or hurting souls.

In September, flower bouquets were assembled at St. John of God Community Services and delivered to residents of Cardinal Village in Sewell, NJ. In the next few months, flowers will be delivered to Woodbury Mews and Pitman Manor.

“By participating in this project, our adults with special needs are gaining valuable skills like socialization, empathy and hospitality,” said Brother Thomas Osorio, Executive Director of St. John of God Community Services. “All of those skills are important for our clients to continue to develop and in line with the vision of St. John of God,” said Osorio.

When clients of St. John of God Community Services Adults Services/Vocational Rehabilitation program are not participating in projects like this, they are working in St. John of God’s fulfillment center. The fulfillment center helps individuals with disabilities reach their employment goals - an important stepping stone on the path to independence, inclusion and full community integration. For more than 35 years, the fulfillment center has offered high quality order fulfillment and other outsourcing services at reasonable rates. Services include bagging, boxing, direct mail, labeling shredding and more.
